Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook Print

There maybe time when you want the cost savings, security and reliability of Google Workspace but your current CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system or internal processes connect to Microsoft Outlook® then we have the tool to enable you to get the advantages of Google Apps, while employees can use the interface they need.

Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook ® allows you to use Microsoft Outlook® 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 effectively with Google Apps.

What does the program do?

Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook ® is run for the first time it will create a new profile within Microsoft Outlook® to sync any new email, contacts, calendar and notes from Google's servers.
One downside of Outlook® is that the larger the .pst file the slower outlook becomes as it has to look through the database. Microsoft have got around this by the archive feature which will create a secondary .pst file to add older emails. If this was to be done when using Google Apps then the emails would be pulled from Google's servers and thus not be searchable on-line or your mobile etc.

So how have Google got around this?

Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook ® has a feature that will allow you to set how large you would like the .pst folder to be; either 1/2/4/Gb or Unlimited. Whilst one of the size limited options is selected then the latest amount will be download and kept locally; This ensure that you can make use to the 30Gb email limit and keep Microsoft Outlook® running as quick as possible.

But what of the historic information you already have within another Outlook® profile?

When the program was first run an additional program was also installed which is called Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Outlook®; This will auto-run after the initial sync profile and been created and will give two options:

  1. Migrate from existing Outlook profile The migration tool will give a list of the other profiles that are setup within Outlook
  2. Migrate from existing .pst This will give you standard "find file" dialog box within Windows to navigate your harddrive to the .pst file

If there has been a problem during migration then you are able to find this in Start --> All Programs and it can pick up the setting from the last migration to ensure that data is not duplicated when it is uploaded.
